CDEI Project Receives Funding from the EU: FC submited a Grant Application Form in May 2010 for a Specific Transnational Project under the Fundamental Rights and Citizenship Programme. The project "Children, Data and Emerging Identities" aims to make children (ages 8 to 14) aware of the risks of sharing personal information online and to encourage them to control their online identity by thinking carefully about the consequences. The project will contribute to evidence-based policy and research recommendations and partners will act as a node of awareness network in the Netherlands, the U.K. and Cyprus. More...
PeSCoS Project Receives Funding from the EU: FC submited a Grant Application Form in February 2010 for a Development of Innovation proposal under the Leonardo Life Long Learning Programme. The project proposal "Personalised Sustainability Coaching for SMEs - PeSCoS" concerns the development of a methodology for the preparation of personalised unsustainable ways withdrawal plans for SMEs. The personalised plans, will help SMEs, depending on their industry, to diminish their negative impact to the environment. eGreenShip Project Receives Funding under the NSRF: FC submited in November 2009, in cooperation with AVACA Technologies S.A., the proposal "An integrated system for monitoring ship's emissions and operating parameters with application to optimal management of the ship energy demands during operation [E-GREENSHIP]" for a research project under the National Strategic Reference Framework (NSRF) in Greece. On 21-Jul-2010, GSRT published the results of the evaluation process, based on which eGreenShip was selected to receive funding. More...
Serious Games in Lifelong Learning - SEGAL: FC submits a Grant Application Form for a Specific Multilateral Project under the LLP Call for Proposals 2010 (Call EACEA/10/10) and more specifically the Support for European Cooperation in Education and Training (2010/C 73/09). The proposal targets Part B - Support for transnational cooperation in the development and implementation of national and regional lifelong learning strategies. The concept behind the current proposal is the elaboration of a strategy for the promotion of Serious Games in Life Long Learning while at the same time consider ways to utilise serious games for the advancement of key competencies, such as Digital Competence and Learning to Learn. Digital Competence and Learning to Learn are two of the 8 key competencies defined by the European Framework for Key Competences for Lifelong Learning and which are necessary for personal fulfilment, active citizenship, social inclusion and employability in a knowledge society.

Helliculture Training Game - SnailVille: FC submits a KA3-ICT proposal under the Leonardo Life Long Learning Programme. The proposal concerns the design and development of training material for helliculture (snail farming). The training will be delivered via a specially designed game designed along the lines of the FaceBook games FarmVille and FarmTown. To prove the concept, the proposal foresees extensive validation seminars with the participation of current and wanna be snail farmers in Italy, Portugal and Greece. The game will cover the complete circle of Heliculture and will educate potential snail breeders on the following:
- Morphology, anatomy and physiology of land snails;
- Financial & technical aspects for setting up and operating a snail farm;
- Where To Rear Snails;
- Housing;
- Construction of Cages;
- Snail Breeding;
- Selection of Foundation Stock;

Snail farming is a growing business that should be encouraged for reasons of preservation of species. It is not often the case that the opportunity to actively participate in the conservation of species is also a profitable business opportunity with a promising future. However, the fact remains that it is not easy for someone today to find the information or undertake the training that is necessary to become successful in Snail Farming for various reasons that have been explained in the previous paragraphs. It is the aspiration of the current project to fill this gap through the development of a Heliculture training method and certification applied through an entertaining game that is open to everyone.
COurse SUggestion based on RAting and MYning: FC submits a KA3-ICT proposal under the Leonardo Life Long Learning Programme. The proposal concerns design and development of a platform that will suggest to users the most appropriate courses to follow based on opinion mining and sentiment analysis techniques. The COSURAMY platform will be the outcome of extending the DOKEOS eLearning platform with the opinion mining and sentiment analysis modules. The resulting platform will be assessed in Greece, Spain, Poland, Norway and the U.K.
Dynamic Online Community Environment for Informal Learning - DOCEIL: FC submits a Development of Innovation proposal under the Leonardo Life Long Learning Programme. The proposal concerns the design and development of an educational marketplace for informal learning that will match desire to learn with passion to trach for every possible subject. To prove the concept, the proposal foresees the deveopment of pilot content and the execution of assessment exercises in Greece, Italy and France.

The proposal concerns the design of a specialised course for training SMEs that have already established a web presence on how to utilise the latest search engine marketing and optimisation (SEO/SEM) techniques to promote their business on the Internet and generate more business. The training methodology envisages a hands-on phased approach addressing the specific needs of SMEs. To prove the concept, the proposal will assess the effectiveness of the course in Greece, Cyprus and the U.K.
