Informal Learning
FC promotes the concept of informal learning/casual learning, not only at the workplace, but at a community level on the belief that everyone has something to teach and the learning process itself does not always has to be formal demanding a commitment from teachers and learners.
FC is currently working on a service for casual learning through which members of the community can share their mutual interests in an informal environment. The service will match learning desire with teaching passion by connecting those that want to learn about a particular subject in a specific area with those that are willing to teach about this subject in that area.
Through the service, community members suggest subjects they want to learn about, other members of the community will sign up to support the idea and finally a third member of the community volunteers to teach the subject and the relevant class is created. The concept encourages the creativity of community members and fosters the creation of relations among members of the community through the casual character of the classes. The intention is to match supply and demand for subjects that are impossible or at the very least very difficult to learn elsewhere (e.g. living on an extreme budget, planning a wedding, etc.). Basically, community members, learners and teachers will be in charge. If a community member wants to learn something that no one is teaching, then he/she can create a class and recruit a teacher. The same goes for activities, interests that members of the community want to share. They will offer to teach it and gather learners.
The end result will be a dynamic online community that brings motivated learners and talented teachers together. It will become a place where people who love to learn can find classes that are just right for them. It will also offer a public forum to help teachers, coaches, and other experts share what they know. In the process, it can help these experts grow their businesses with simple online tools they can use to promote their classes, workshops and special events. So they can then focus on what they do best: teach.
